Most type of bionic vision rely on using large parts of the be human optical system to fix sight . But a novel proficiency will simply feed the turnout from a digital television camera directly into the genius .
New Scientist reportsthat a new kind of bionic eye will “ bypass most of the ocular system entirely . ” The arrangement , developed at Monash University in Clayton , Victoria , will use a camera attached to a twosome of glasses . The output from the photographic camera will then be transmit through a processing unit . From there , signals will be piped directly into the brain . There , they ’ll be split up across 11 implanted tiles , each with 43 electrodes .
input of the brain orbit where those tiles will be placed get even blind people to see photoflash of light . It ’s hoped that the power system of stimulation will mime a 500 - pixel field - of - vision — far more earthy than sizeable human sight , but impressive if it works .
The researchers are currently work out how to process the info from the camera so that it can be used to make the clear paradigm on the in - brainiac grid . They then hope to test the system on people who have latterly lose their sight in accidents .
