Beau died after he was taken to a local hospital; his father was treated and eventually released, police said.
The attacking dog was an Olde English bulldog,WBMAreported; it was promptly euthanized, police said.
Beau had several prior interactions with the dog, the police statement said, and the dog had no history of aggressive behavior.
Investigators announced on Thursday no charges will be filed.

In astatementshared through the sheriff’s office, Beau’s parents – Hailey and Kevin Clark – paid tribute to his “cheeky grin and his contagious laugh.”
“We miss his feet running across the house waking us up,” reads a part of the statement. “His hugs and love were like none I’ve ever known.”
The statement says Beau was “his daddy’s shadow” and played with his mom, who the boy called his “cute little mama.”
“What a treasure he has been to love and take care of the past four years and three months,” reads another part of the statement. “He’s taught me to let go of things that really just don’t matter. Who knew you could learn so much from such a small child?”
AGoFundMehas been set up to assist the family with the funeral and next steps. Ascholarship fundhas also been set up in Beau’s honor, the sheriff’s office announced on Thursday.
