WhileNew GirlstarLamorne Morrismay be the award-winning actor in the family, his daughter Lily Morris is a real comedian too.
Lamorne added that Lily, who he described as “silly” and “really funny,” has inherited his sense of humor. While he sometimes wants to scold the little girl when she’s “acting up” or “being weird,” it also makes him laugh, he explained. “This is hilarious. I should encourage this behavior,” Lamorne said.
Being a dad has changed the actor for the better, he shared on his showThe Lamorning After Podcastin September 2024. Not only does he enjoy his daughter’s silly antics, but having Lily to “center” his life around has made his focus sharper. “My career has gotten better since my daughter was born,” Lamorne said on the podcast.

Lamorne welcomed Lily on Sept. 14, 2020. Though he has not spoken openly about Lily’s mom’s identity, he confirmed they co-parent in an appearance onThe Drew Barrymore Show.
Lily quickly became the center of Lamorne’s world, he shared in the September 2024 episode of his podcast. Having her to focus on “makes life rather easier,” Lamorne said, adding, “My daughter is incredible.”

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree for Lamorne, who has pointed to Lily’s sense of humor in multiple interviews.
Lily is “super silly,” Lamorne said on his podcast. “There are times when she’s off the rails, and you want to be a stern dad and be like ‘no,’ but deep down, you’re dying laughing at some of the foolishness she gets herself into,” he said.
“They would send her home from school every other day,” Lamorne said. He said Lily was doing better in her second year of school, but she still doesn’t like sharing.

TheSaturday Nightactor shared the sweet moment onInstagrama month later, writing, “When I got the call about the Emmy nomination, my daughter thought it would be great to make fun of me.”
Lamorne spoke about the clip onTodayin August 2024, sharing that it’s important for his daughter to see him cry. “I think it’s beneficial for young kids to understand the differences between the two and that it’s okay to cry, whether you’re sad or happy," he said.
“There are times where she’ll see me cry, maybe if I’m sad or because I lost someone, and she’s trying to understand what that means,” Lamorne continued. “And in this occasion, because I’m laughing and crying she’s confused and making fun of me.”
When he won the Emmy a month later, he gave his daughter a shout-out with a bit of his signature humor. “My beautiful daughter Lily, I love you. I told you I would do it, you’ve always doubted me.”
The next day, he shared a video of Lily’s cute reaction to the award onTikTok. In the video,Lamorne hands Lily the trophy, but she responds, “It’s heavy! I can’t hold it because I’m too little,” giving the Emmy back to her dad and running away.

Lamorne said his daughter has him “wrapped around her finger” during his August 2024 appearance on theTodayshow.
While he tries to lay down the law with his little girl, Lily usually gets her way, he admitted. Once, Lily came downstairs and hugged her father — but had an ulterior motive.
“She said ‘I love you daddy’ — out of nowhere, unprompted. And I said ‘Oh my god,’ and I pick her up, hug, kiss and then she whispers in my ear, ‘Can I have some doughnuts now?’ ” he said.

Lamorne called Lily “her own character” during an appearance onThe Drew Barrymore Showin October 2024, before agreeing with hostDrew Barrymorethat Lily would like an Emmy to match her dad’s one day. “She practices speeches in the mirror,” he said.
Lamorne is proud he never has to push Lily to be bolder, he said in the September episode of his podcast, describing the little girl as very “communicative.” “She’s so dynamic in every way you want your kid to be,” he said.
She has made Lamorne “more focused”

Having a child changed the way Lamorne views the world, he said on his podcast in September.
“It allows me to filter out B.S. quicker, people I don’t want to hang out with," Lamorne explained. “People I don’t want to spend time with. Activities I shouldn’t be doing. I find myself more focused.”
With Lily to care for, work has become even more important. “I have my child, my family, my friends and work. It’s a smooth blend, with her at the middle of everything,” theNew Girlalum said.
