Deadlineis reporting that both Tyler Hoechlin ’s CW Superman and Brandon Routh — currently fiddle thedelightful Ray Palmer , a.k.a . The Atom , on caption of Tomorrow — will suit up as the Man of Steel for this fall ’s climactic Arrowverse crossover , Crisis on Infinite Earths , a take on theseminal DC Comicssuper event that shaped the DC multiverse as we bonk it .
Routh saidof the intelligence , “ Honored , humbled , thankful , and still pinching myself . ” And it ’s not a jokey reference to Routh ’s cinematic jaunt as Clark Kent back in 2006 ’s Superman Returns , either — well , not just a jokey reference .

This is n’t Ray Palmer putting onClark ’s spare spandex , but Routh actually bet Superman : or rather a Superman , from a dissimilar time / place than Hoechlin’stake on the fiber . Whether it ’s a future version of Hoeclin ’s Superman , a Superman from a unlike multiverse , or indeed even the actual straight - up Superman Returns Superman making an show stay to be see . Itwouldn’t be the first timethe CW have used a crossover to offer a surreptitious connectedness to the DC flick !
