We ’re pretty demanding of our interns , but in turn , you will learn a sight about this whole professional blogging endeavour . So , the idealistic candidate is someone who ’s look at a calling in media , but fairly geeky too . Oh , and you must be within daily commuting distance of Manhattan .
The essentials :
• You should want to be a diary keeper or reporter or writer or something of the sort when you grow up — experience at a newspaper or magazine is A++++ , will corrupt again
• Like technology and the internet a lot
• canonic experience with HTML , Flickr , FTP , Facebook , Twitter — thing that the great unwashed do on the internet
• Dedication . It ’s like , intense here .
• A decent laptop
• Over 18
• Willingness to discover . We do n’t look you to know everything when you get here , but you should be willing to put the work in to figure it out .
• power to trust at minimal 20 hours a week , with full time being the predilection .
The stuff you ’ll be getting learned :
• Research and reportage : Learning how to draw together lots of dissimilar kinds of selective information from multiple sources for editors
• Spotting stories : take how to find and pitch stories from multiple sources and leads
• Other , um , thing
fundamentally , you ’ll be learning the basics of spell about technology and cyberspace culture . And very belike act with a lot of gadgets , and learning new euphemisms for genitalia and all of the “ go go go quicker faster fast ” gait of blogging . Oh , there is a pocket-size stipend , too .
