This was an off - the - ledge Optimus Prime modelling – “ was ” being the surgical word – before a model - modder by the name of Pairadocs fastidiously repainted and modify it to make this “ Optimus Prime Protoform . ” It ’s an astonishing piece of craftsmanship and a straight - out badass model . Hit the parachuting to hear how he made it .
I image the diamond in the jolting though with the robot … so I gave him the “ filling in the gaps ” intervention , filling and sculpting and then sand all the screw holes , so he was more unadulterated and neat . Then I did multiple layers of paint on him … root pelage of a metallic black , then drybrushed layers of Oily Steel then a custom mixed metal light aristocratical ( very subtle . ) I think he came out looking a lot more organic and protoform - ish .
