It ’s been forever since we ’ve heard anything about the Always Sunny creators ’ tar for a space opera house drollery , Boldly Going Nowhere . Now there ’s news that the Reno 911 creator are making their own FX space comedy . So , is Boldly numb ?
The Wrapis reporting that FX ’s president and general manager John Landgraf announced the pickup of the U.S.S. Alabama , a new series about the space crew aboard the USS Alabama . The show is being helmed by Reno 911 atomic number 27 - creators Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon and , like Reno , it feature characters who are n’t exactly the brilliant . And it sounds like it will be heavily extemporize .
Look , do n’t get me wrong , I loved Reno 911 . I even liked the movie . But blank space improv — that just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen . There ’s already so much going on when you set a show in outer space , and to pile improv on top of it … we ’re not so sure . True , these guys are the best , but we ’ve read the script toBoldly rifle Nowhereand it was pretty spectacular — as is . We ca n’t think that FX will take on more than one space comedy , so I pretend this intend curtains for Boldly ’s holodeck masturbation jokes .
