Normally these go on in soil and sediment , peculiarly at the bottom and edges of contaminated streams . In the exposure they have manifestly get into a pipeline somehow , and in the absence of stain they are coil around each other . The contractions you see are the termination of a single dirt ball catching and then stimulating all the others to do the same almost at the same time , so it look like a single boastful muscle contracting .
