On April 22 , Wizards of the Coast is publishing a5.2 versionof its System Reference Document ( or SRD)—aka , the secret plan ’s base rules to be used by third - party publishers making mathematical product built off the TTRPG ’s grounding — that will admit “ foundational content ” from its recently releasedCore Rulebooks . hold up frontwards , SRD 5.2 will light under the Creative Commons License , be compatible with its 5.1 predecessor , and “ make it easygoing for Almighty to transition their third - party content that was written for 2014 rules to the 2024 convention . ” succeeding versions of the SRD will be alone released under the License for “ consistency and full compatibility . ”
