The Inquirer is reporting that prescribed , final Xbox 2 development kit are set to ship ahead of time next year , upgrading the current PowerMac G5 + Radeon 9800 outfit to something using ATI ’s R500 graphical chipset . That means two affair : the Xbox 2 hardware should employ R500 - class hardware ( duh ) and the R500 is reasonably close to being locked and loaded , meaning we could fairish expect a new Radeon video card using the chipset around the same meter next year .
On a related note , it looks like Nvidia has confirmed to shareowner that the Playstation 3 will set up in Spring of 2006 for Japan and Winter of 2006 for the Benjamin West . This is n’t enormously surprising , but it ’s the first semi - official nod I ’d attend .
