The cause of death for Los Angeles news anchorChauncy Gloverhas been revealed.
The Emmy-winning journalist’s family announced news of Glover’s death on Tuesday, Nov. 5. In their statementKCAL News, where Glover was an anchor for just over a year, his family did share any additional information about his death at 39.

“He was more than a son and brother,” they continued. “He was a beacon of light in our lives and a true hero to his community.”

Glover dreamed of becoming a news anchor at a young age. According to hisstation bio, when he was 5 his dad even built him a mini “anchor desk” for his weekly newscasts, which “he would perform for his family every Sunday after church.”
Before his work took him to Los Angeles, he was the first Black male main anchor for Houston’s KTRK, where he was on the air for eight years.
“But the defining moments in his life didn’t happen on television screens; they unfolded on the streets and in the hearts of the people he touched,” per his bio, which went on to mentionThe Chauncy Glover Project, a mentoring organization he founded to help young boys of color from the inner city.
Throughout his career, Glover earned three Emmy Awards and worked in Michigan, Florida, Georgia and Texas before relocating to California.
