A Texas mother helped her son, who is serving a life sentence, escape from prison Sunday before both were captured, authorities allege.

Leonor Priestle, a former correctional officer, is charged with permitting or facilitating an escape after she allegedly assisted the escape of her son, Robert Yancy Jr., the Texas Department of Criminal Justice says.

Yancy will now face escape charges, according to the TDCJ.

Priestle was arrested Sunday evening in Victoria, along with her boyfriend Russell Williams, authorities say. Williams is charged with criminal intent to escape.

Officials claim that Priestle came to visit her son at the Clemens Unit, wearing a black sweater that Yancy was able to put on, before the pair allegedly walked out of the facility and left in a white Nissan Versa.

When Yancy was arrested, authorities say he was found with an ID that he is believed to have presented when he exited the prison.

It is not immediately clear if Priestle or Williams have retained attorneys or entered pleas.

Priestle was a corrections officer from 2010 to 2011, a spokesperson for the department of criminal justice says.
